keep in mind that some grades are only based on limited assessments. This is especially the case at this time
because we devoted two weeks to state assessments. For example, we have only had one Social
Studies quiz this quarter. We
will have a special guest on Thursday. Chris Shaw, director of the Adirondack
Folk School, will present an program on Colonial Life. Field
Trips are being planned. Permission
slips and details will be sent home soon. Tuesday
June 12 is a trip to Fort William Henry and a boat cruise on Lake George. We
will also take a trip to the Adirondack Folk School on Thursday, June 14. PLEASE READ Students can access Spelling City by going to www. spellingcity.com. Click on “Find a List”. GENERAL INFORMATION : We
usually have two assignments each night (typically ELA and math). Students
should also complete any assignments that were not completed during the
school day. Students
should record homework assignments each day in their school planners. We
usually review and correct the "guided class practice" of each math
lesson sheet in school each day. Students
(and parents) should refer "guided class practice" when students
are completing math homework. I
rarely allow students to complete homework in school (unless it is during the
“after-school” period). In
addition to assignments, students should regularly study basic math facts and
read books at home. Students
may borrow books from our classroom library. Math
tests are given for every group of five lessons. Science
and Social Studies tests do not have a regular schedule. Students
are provided with a study guide for each Social Studies and Science
unit. They are similar to an outline. Parents
should sign and return all tests. They
are usually sent home each Wednesday in the “Wednesday-Friday” folder and are
due on Friday. |
